Join N-Pulse

N-Pulse is a MAKE Project at EPFL developing open-source, non-invasive biomedical technologies. We design and build prosthetic systems, haptic feedback devices, and wearable biosensing technologies such as EMG bracelets and EEG headsets — the entire system designed, built and tested by students at EPFL. Whether you're interested in electronics, mechanics, machine learning, biosignals, embedded systems, communication, quality management or partnerships, there's probably a part of N-Pulse where you can contribute.

This year's focus

This year, our main focus is bringing the different parts of N-Pulse together into a reliable prosthetic system. Our primary objective is to achieve real-time control of a transradial bionic prosthesis using EMG signals: first with an able-bodied user, then with a patient-tailored system for an amputee. In parallel, we're developing and validating EEG and computer vision as complementary approaches to prosthesis control, as well as haptic feedback to provide sensory information back to the user — alongside everything around them: the prosthesis itself, biosignal acquisition, decoding, electronics, embedded control and system integration.
